Franz Greenwood

Franz completed his Bachelors of Architectural Studies at Carleton University with the OAA Guild Medal and University Medal for Architecture. After an International Exchange Semester in Istanbul, Turkey, and a year of working in London England, Franz was accepted into the Masters of Science in Architecture at the Technical University of Delft, in Delft, Netherlands, where he specialized in urban housing and sustainable development. His Masters Thesis was entitled “Soft Enclave,” a housing development project in Kreuzberg, Berlin.

Franz worked for several architectural firms nationally and internationally, including John Donkin Architect and Barry Hobin and Associates Architects in Ottawa, Ontario, and Barcode Architects in Rotterdam, where he assisted in competition entries for several projects, including an extension to the Boijmans Gallery in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and a headquarters for Edel AG, a subsidiary of the Phaidon Publishing Company in Berlin, Germany. After a year with Barcode, he returned to Victoria, British Columbia to work on multi-unit residential housing and cabins with Number Ten Architectural Group before making the move to Toronto, Ontario.

A recent addition to the Gow Hastings team, Franz brings a comprehensive approach to design at every scale, with strengths in concept design, 3D visualization, construction documentation, and contract administration.
