TRCA Near Urban Adventure Centre
The Bolton Camp: Ontario’s Near-Urban Adventure Centre Project is an exciting new initiative by the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) and their partners to repurpose the historic Bolton Camp site into the Greater Toronto Areas’ (GTA) premier adventure leadership and training centre. This four season facility will be designed to provide a quality interpretive experience in a natural setting and will serve many user groups. Public, private groups and school groups, families, youth at risk, persons with disabilities, active seniors, eco-adventure racers, athletes and outdoor enthusiasts will all benefit from this new exciting project.
Our objective included providing rendered presentation perspective drawings for the Bolton camp site and in the process, perspectives for the YMCA Cedar Glen Camp and Albion Hills Conservation Area. The drawings will assist the TRCA with partnership development, community consultation and marketing to prospective tenants. They illustrate potential building redevelopment and activities within all three sites. The project will honour the heritage usage and natural aspects of the site while showcasing modern activities and features. The key concept is to convey youth participation on the site and fully accessible activity areas for all persons to enjoy a full experience of the outdoors.
Experiences on the site include: Leadership and team building projects, outdoor education, outdoor adventure programs (zip line/high ropes/tree top climbing/GPS courses), sports team training programs, natural fitness and conditional programs, youth social and leadership development programs as well as overnight residential programs.
