Description

This project explored the re-purposing of the historic Bolton Camp site into the Greater Toronto Area’s premier adventure leadership and training centre for the Toronto Region Conservation Authority. This four-season facility is to be designed to provide a quality interpretive experience in a natural setting and would serve a variety of user groups including school groups, families, youth at risk, persons with disabilities, eco-adventure racers and more.

We provided rendered presentation perspective drawings for the Bolton Campsite and in the process, perspectives for the YMCA Cedar Glen Camp and Albion Hills Conservation Area. The drawings illustrate potential building redevelopment and activities within all three sites, including possible recreational uses for the areas directly adjacent to the Albion Chalet and Albion Pond. Our objective on the drawings was to convey youth participation on the site and fully accessible activity areas for all persons to enjoy a full experience of the outdoors. One of our major considerations was to honour the heritage usage and natural aspects of the site while showcasing modern activities and features.

The presentation drawings created during this exercise helped formalize the Toronto Region Conservation Authority and partners’ vision for the three sites and determined program and needs to be accommodated.
