Description
The Flights Experiential Hub at Seneca Polytechnic's Newnham Campus is the first of its kind among Canadian post-secondary institutions, providing hands-on training and preparation for careers in the airline service industry. The 15-foot-high hub includes a B737 cabin simulator – aptly named Air Seneca, an A320 door simulator, a mock-airline interior cabin, and a five-metre aircraft evacuation slide.
For students studying Seneca Polytechnic’s Flight Services programs, this state-of-the-art centre helps teach aircraft safety procedures, cabin operations, and passenger experience techniques – skills that will help careers take flight. Wired with livestreaming and video capabilities, the hub can also accommodate remote learning.
The Flights Experiential Hub is part of 2020 Program Moves (Seneca2020) – the largest series of moves in Seneca’s history, in order to take full advantage of 34,000 sf new space across Seneca campuses. The ambitious, multi-phased project emphasizes a commitment to great student and employee experiences, as well as collaborative, cross-disciplinary and experiential learning.
