Description

The new Student Service Centre is an improved setting for integrated student services. Located off the main entrance at the Administrative Building on the Georgian College Barrie Campus, the new “The Right Stop” brings together Student Commons and Student Services in one convenient and localized area. In multiple phases, all three floors of the existing Administrative Building were renovated into a modern, vibrant Student Service Centre.

The renovation included improved layouts, making better use of the existing space, and making changes to the physical setting to achieve a successful transition from the current student services situation to a new service model. The Student Services Centre adopted a ‘triage’ model of service where students line up in one area only, and are then redirected to the counsellor who can best serve their needs, mitigating confusion and long wait times. The second level added an additional office and administrative area with a reception area, meeting rooms, and private administrative offices, a student lounge space, and a 24-hour computer lab for student use.

The Student Service Centre is a warm, vibrant entrance to Georgian College’s Barrie Campus, and acts as a hub where current and prospective students can meet, study, host or attend events, access services, and find information. Multi-purpose, flexible spaces have created new seating, as well as event and gathering space for up to 300 persons at the heart of campus, enhancing student experience.
